   Power Down the iPhone

   Press and hold the side button and either volume button simultaneously until the sliders appear. Slide the power slider right to shut down the device completely.

   Remove Bottom Pentalobe Screws

   Use a P2 Pentalobe driver to remove the two screws located on either side of the USB-C charging port. Place them on a magnetic mat to keep track of their positions.

   Apply Heat to Lower Edge

   Heat the bottom edge of the display with a heat gun on low power for 90 seconds to soften the adhesive seal. Keep the heat gun moving to avoid screen damage.

   Attach Suction Cup

   Secure a suction handle onto the lower third of the display assembly just above the charging port. Pull up gently to create a minor gap between the glass and frame.

   Insert Opening Pick

   Insert a thin plastic opening pick into the small gap created by the suction cup at the bottom edge. Slide it gently left and right to begin cutting the display adhesive.

   Slice Perimeter Adhesive

   Slide the pick around the left and top edges of the phone to free the display. Insert the pick no deeper than 3mm along the right side to avoid damaging fragile flex cables.

   Open Display Assembly

   Gently swing the display open from the left edge like a book cover. Lean the screen against a sturdy object so it stays upright without straining the display cables.

   Unscrew Battery and Display Cover

   Use a Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the screws holding the metal bracket over the battery and display connectors. Store each screw separately by size.

   Remove Bracket Shield

   Use precision tweezers to lift the metal cover bracket off the logic board. Set it aside for reassembly.

    Disconnect Battery Cable

    Pry the battery press connector straight up from its motherboard socket using the flat edge of a spudger. Disconnecting power prevents accidental electrical shorts.

    Disconnect Display Flex Cables

    Use your spudger to gently disconnect the display and digitizer flex cables from the logic board. Carefully lift the display assembly away from the phone body.

    Unscrew Taptic Engine Shield

    Remove the Tri-point Y000 screws securing the lower bracket cover over the Taptic Engine and speaker assembly. Lift the metal shield out using tweezers.

    Disconnect Taptic Engine Flex Cable

    Pry the Taptic Engine ribbon press connector straight up from its socket on the lower interconnect board using a plastic spudger.

    Unscrew Taptic Engine Mounting Screws

    Remove the mounting screws holding the Taptic Engine module to the rear enclosure using the appropriate bit driver. Keep these screws separated.

    Remove the Taptic Engine

    Insert a flat spudger under the edge of the Taptic Engine module and gently pry it out of the enclosure. Remove the old unit completely.
