Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume down button simultaneously, then slide the screen slider to power off the device completely.

1 minPress a suction cup handle firmly onto the lower portion of the front display screen just above the lower edge.

Slice through the display adhesive
4 minPull up on the suction handle to create a tiny gap, then insert an opening pick and slice along the bottom and side edges.

Open the display assembly
2 minSwing the display open toward the right side like the cover of a book, taking care not to strain the ribbon cables.

Unscrew the battery shield plate
2 minUse a Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the metal battery connection cover plate.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery flex connector straight up out of its logic board socket.

Unscrew the bottom loudspeaker cover
3 minRemove the four Tri-point Y000 screws retaining the lower loudspeaker and microphone bracket assembly.

Lift out the lower speaker module
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the lower speaker assembly and carefully pry it up out of the enclosure.

Disconnect the microphone connector
2 minPry the lower microphone and charging port flex cable connector off the main logic board using a plastic spudger.

Unscrew the lower microphone bracket
3 minUse a precision screwdriver to remove the remaining retention screws securing the primary microphone housing to the frame.

Peel up the microphone assembly ribbon
3 minApply 1-2 drops of 99% isopropyl alcohol to the microphone flex, then use precision tweezers to carefully peel it from the frame.

Install the replacement microphone flex
3 minAlign the new microphone module in the bottom housing, firmly pressing down to adhere the ribbon cable in position.
