   Power off the iPhone

   Press and hold the side button and either volume button, then slide the power slider off.

   Remove bottom pentalobe screws

   Use a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.8 mm screws next to the USB-C port.

   Heat the bottom edge

   Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the lower rear edge for two minutes to soften the back glass adhesive.

   Attach a suction handle

   Place a suction handle near the bottom edge of the back glass and pull up firmly to create a gap.

   Insert opening pick

   Insert an opening pick into the seam under the back glass at the bottom of the device.

   Slice perimeter adhesive

   Slide the pick around the edges of the back glass, keeping it shallow on the left side to avoid ribbon cables.

   Open the back glass

   Gently swing the back glass open toward the right side like a book.

   Unscrew lower connector bracket

   Use a Y000 tri-point driver to remove the screws holding the lower metal cover bracket.

   Remove lower connector bracket

   Use tweezers to lift the lower metal cover bracket off the logic board.

    Disconnect back glass cable

    Pry the back glass press connector straight up from its socket using a spudger.

    Unscrew battery bracket

    Remove the tri-point screws securing the battery cable connector shield.

    Remove battery bracket

    Lift away the battery cover bracket with tweezers to reveal the battery press connector.

    Disconnect battery cable

    Disconnect the battery flex cable from the logic board to completely remove power.

    Peel battery adhesive pull tabs

    Use tweezers to unstick and peel back the black stretch-release adhesive tabs on the battery edges.

    Pull out adhesive strips

    Slowly pull each adhesive tab at a flat angle parallel to the phone frame until they release.

    Remove the old battery

    Lift the battery out of the enclosure using a plastic spudger if any stubborn adhesive remains.

    Clean enclosure recess

    Apply a few drops of isopropyl alcohol and wipe away any remaining adhesive residue from the housing.

    Apply new battery adhesive

    Attach fresh stretch-release adhesive strips to the back of the replacement battery.

    Insert new battery

    Set the new battery into the enclosure and press down firmly to secure it.

    Reconnect battery cable

    Align and press the battery flex connector straight into its motherboard socket until it clicks.

    Reinstall internal brackets

    Place the shield plates back over their connectors and thread the Y000 screws back into place.

    Apply back glass gasket adhesive

    Lay down a new perimeter adhesive seal along the housing edges before reassembly.

    Reconnect and close back glass

    Plug in the back glass cable, swing the back glass into position, and press firmly along all edges.

    Reinstall pentalobe screws

    Tighten the two P2 pentalobe screws on either side of the USB-C port.
