Step-by-step
- 1
Power off and remove bottom screws
2 minTurn off your iPhone completely. Remove the two Pentalobe P2 screws located on either side of the USB-C port.

Heat the back glass edge
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting to warm the bottom edge of the rear glass for about two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach suction cup tool
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the back glass, just above the USB-C port.

Create opening and insert pick
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a slight gap at the bottom edge, then insert a plastic opening pick into the gap.

Slice perimeter adhesive
4 minSlide the pick carefully along the bottom and side edges to slice through the perimeter adhesive. Do not insert the pick more than 4 mm.

Swing open the back glass
1 minGently swing open the back glass from the left edge like the cover of a book, resting it upright against a stable support.

Remove connector bracket screws
2 minUse a Y000 tri-point screwdriver to remove the screws securing the lower connector cover bracket.

Disconnect the back glass flex cable
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the back glass press connector straight up from its socket.

Remove the back glass assembly
1 minLift the rear glass assembly away from the chassis and set it aside in a safe location.

Unscrew lower speaker bracket
3 minRemove the Phillips and tri-point screws holding down the loudspeaker housing at the bottom of the case.

Remove the loudspeaker
2 minUse a spudger to gently lift the loudspeaker up and out of the lower chassis to reveal the Taptic Engine.

Unscrew Taptic Engine fasteners
2 minRemove the three standoff and Phillips screws securing the Taptic Engine to the enclosure frame.

Disconnect Taptic Engine cable
1 minUse a spudger to detach the Taptic Engine flex connector from its socket on the lower motherboard trace.

Extract old Taptic Engine
1 minGently lift the Taptic Engine out of the phone body using precision tweezers.

Insert replacement Taptic Engine
2 minPosition the new Taptic Engine into the chassis cavity, aligning it with the mounting screw holes.

Secure Taptic Engine screws and connector
3 minPress the flex cable connector firmly onto its socket until it clicks, then reinstall and tighten the securing screws.

Reinstall loudspeaker assembly
3 minLower the loudspeaker back into position and fasten all mounting screws securely.

Reconnect back glass and seal device
5 minAttach the back glass cable, reinstall the metal bracket, apply fresh adhesive strips, and press the back glass firmly back into place.
