Step-by-step

Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and either volume button, then slide the power icon to turn off the device completely.

Remove pentalobe screws
2 minUnscrew the two 6.8 mm P2 Pentalobe screws located on the bottom edge near the charging port.

Heat the back glass edge
3 minApply heat to the lower edge of the back glass using a heat gun or hair dryer for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower portion of the back glass, avoiding the camera bump.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
4 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap, insert a plastic opening pick, and slide it along the bottom edge.

Open the back glass
2 minSwing the back glass open toward the right side like a book cover, taking care not to strain the internal ribbon cables.

Remove the battery cover bracket
3 minUnscrew the two Tri-point Y000 screws securing the battery connector cover plate and lift the cover off.

Disconnect the battery
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery connector directly up from its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect the back glass assembly
2 minPry up the back glass flex connector from the logic board and set the back glass panel aside safely.

Unscrew the lower speaker
3 minRemove the four Phillips screws securing the bottom loudspeaker assembly to the lower enclosure.

Remove the loudspeaker
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the loudspeaker assembly and carefully lift it out of the chassis.

Detach the microphone module
3 minUse tweezers to gently unclip and lift the primary lower microphone from its recessed mounting bracket near the bottom grille.

Install the new microphone module
2 minPosition the replacement microphone into the mounting bracket and press gently to seat it into place.

Reinstall the loudspeaker
3 minLower the loudspeaker assembly back into the chassis and secure it with the four Phillips screws.

Reconnect the battery and back glass
3 minPress the back glass flex connector and battery connector back into their board sockets, then reinstall the cover plate.

Reseal and secure the back glass
4 minApply new perimeter adhesive strip, align the back glass, press firmly along all edges, and reinstall the bottom pentalobe screws.
