Step-by-step

Power off iPhone
1 minTurn off your iPhone completely before beginning any disassembly.

Remove bottom Pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws on either side of the Lightning port.

Heat the lower back glass
2 minApply heat to the bottom edge of the back glass with a heat gun or hair dryer for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back glass panel and pull upward to create a slight gap.

Slice back glass adhesive
3 minInsert a plastic prying tool into the gap and slide it along the lower and side edges to slice the waterproof seal.

Open back glass panel
1 minGently swing open the back glass panel from the left side toward the right, like opening a book cover.

Unscrew lower connector shield
2 minRemove the two Y000 tri-point screws securing the metal lower connector bracket.

Remove connector shield
1 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the metal shield off the logic board connections.

Disconnect battery cable

Unscrew loudspeaker

Lift out loudspeaker

2 minRemove the three Phillips screws securing the Taptic Engine vibration motor.

Remove Taptic Engine
2 minLift the Taptic Engine out of the bottom section of the chassis.

Unscrew charging port assembly
3 minRemove the remaining Phillips and standoff screws securing the Lightning port assembly to the internal frame.

Disconnect charging port ribbon
1 minDisconnect the main charging port flex cable connector from the logic board using a spudger.

Peel up old charging port
3 minUse a spudger and tweezers to carefully peel the charging port assembly and attached microphones away from the bottom edge.

Position new charging port
3 minAlign the replacement charging port assembly in the bottom frame, ensuring the microphone array sits flush in its housing.

Connect port flex cable
1 minPress the charging port flex connector onto its socket on the logic board until it snaps firmly into place.

Fasten charging port screws
3 minReinstall and tighten all screws securing the new charging port assembly to the frame.

Reinstall Taptic Engine
2 minPlace the Taptic Engine back into position and secure it with its three screws.

Reinstall loudspeaker
2 minPosition the loudspeaker assembly back into the chassis and tighten its screws.

2 minAlign the back glass onto the frame and press firmly along all edges to seat the adhesive seal.

Reinstall Pentalobe screws
2 minThread and tighten the two P2 Pentalobe screws next to the Lightning port.
