Step-by-step

Power off your iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume down button simultaneously until the sliders appear. Slide to power off the device completely.

Remove the bottom pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws on either side of the Lightning port.

Heat the lower back glass
2 minApply a heat gun set to low heat or a hairdryer along the bottom edge of the back glass for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower third of the back glass, as close to the bottom edge as possible.

Insert an opening pick
3 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap and slice into the bottom adhesive seam with a thin plastic opening pick.

Slice the lower edge adhesive
2 minSlide the pick carefully along the bottom edge to slice through the factory water-resistant seal.

Slice the left edge adhesive
3 minReheat the left edge of the phone and slide your opening pick up towards the volume buttons.

Slice the right edge adhesive
3 minHeat the right edge of the glass and slide the pick up toward the power button.

Slice the top edge adhesive
3 minCarefully slide the pick across the top edge near the camera module without inserting it more than 3 mm.

Open the back glass
2 minGently swing the back glass open from the right side like a book page, keeping the flexible ribbon cable attached.

Unscrew the cable bracket
2 minUse a Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the lower connector bracket.

Disconnect the wireless charging cable
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the wireless charging and back glass connector straight up from its socket.

Separate the back glass completely
1 minLift the damaged back glass assembly free from the main enclosure and set it aside.

Clean the frame perimeter
5 minScrape off residual adhesive around the aluminum frame perimeter using a plastic spudger and isopropyl alcohol.

Apply a new adhesive strip
3 minPeel the backing from the custom-fit back glass adhesive gasket and carefully align it on the frame perimeter.

Connect the replacement back glass
2 minAlign the press connector cable on the new back glass and snap it directly into the logic board socket.

Reinstall the cable bracket
2 minPosition the metal bracket over the connector and tighten the two Y000 tri-point screws.

Seal the back glass
3 minAlign the back glass panel with the frame and press firmly around all edges until it clicks into place flush with the frame.

Reinstall the pentalobe screws
2 minThread and tighten the two 6.8 mm P2 Pentalobe screws next to the charging port.
