Step-by-step

Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and either volume button, then slide the screen toggle to completely shut down the device.

Remove the bottom pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning port.

Heat the front display glass
2 minApply a heated pad or heat gun to the lower edge of the screen for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach a suction cup to the screen
2 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the display and pull up firmly to create a small gap above the frame.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
5 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap and slice along the bottom, left, and right edges to separate the display adhesive.

Open the display like a book
2 minGently swing the display open toward the right side, taking care not to strain the delicate flex cables connected along the edge.

Unscrew the lower display bracket
3 minUse a Tri-point Y000 driver to remove the screws securing the metal battery and display connector cover.

Disconnect the battery cable
2 minLever the battery press connector straight up out of its socket using a plastic spudger.

3 minPop off the main display and digitizer flex connectors from the logic board using the point of a spudger.

Remove the display assembly

Unscrew the upper logic board bracket
3 minRemove the Tri-point screws holding the top protective bracket over the wireless charging coil connector.

Disconnect the wireless charging coil flex
2 minUse a plastic spudger to detach the wireless charging coil connector from the logic board.

Warm the rear glass housing
2 minApply moderate heat to the center exterior rear glass for two minutes to soften the glue holding the coil in place.

Pry up the wireless charging coil assembly
5 minSlide a thin plastic pick under the edges of the wireless charging coil and carefully lift it off the rear interior casing.

Align the replacement charging coil
3 minPosition the new wireless charging coil assembly over the alignment pins inside the rear housing.

Connect the wireless charging flex cable
2 minPress the wireless charging connector firmly down onto its logic board socket until it snaps into place.

Reinstall the upper logic board bracket
3 minPlace the top metal shield over the connector and tighten the Tri-point screws to secure it.

Reconnect display and battery cables
3 minAttach the display connectors and press the battery connector into its socket on the logic board.

Secure the lower connector bracket
3 minPosition the metal shield over the battery and display connectors and reinstall the Y000 screws.

Seal and close the display assembly
4 minAlign the top edge of the display with the frame, press around the perimeter until flush, and reinstall the bottom P2 screws.
