   Power off the iPhone

   Press and hold the side button and volume down button simultaneously, then slide to power off. Do not attempt to charge a water-damaged device.

   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the SIM tray hole on the side frame. Push firmly to eject the tray and remove it.

   Remove the Pentalobe screws

   Use a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws located on the bottom edge of the device near the charge port.

   Pull up on the suction cup to create a small gap at the bottom edge. Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap.

   Slice the perimeter adhesive

   Carefully slide the pick around the left, bottom, and right edges to cut through the water-resistant seal. Keep the pick shallow to avoid damaging internal flex cables.

   Open the display screen

   Swing the display open from the right side, opening it leftward like a book cover. Rest the screen against a sturdy object to prevent straining the cables.

   Remove the battery cover plate

   Use a Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the screws holding the lower connector cover plate. Lift and remove the metal shield with tweezers.

    Disconnect the battery

    Use the flat end of a spudger to gently pry the battery connector straight up from its socket. Leave it disconnected to prevent short circuits.

    Disconnect the display cables

    Pry up the display and sensor cable connectors from the logic board using a spudger. Carefully lift away the display assembly.

    Remove the logic board screws

    Unscrew all retaining screws securing the logic board shield and board assembly to the chassis. Keep screws carefully organized by location.

    Extract the logic board

    Gently lift the logic board out of the housing using ESD-safe tweezers or a spudger, ensuring no underlying flex cables snag.

    Clean corrosion with isopropyl alcohol

    Saturate the logic board with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Scrub off liquid residue and corrosion gently using a soft bristle brush.

    Dry the components thoroughly

    Blow off remaining alcohol using compressed air, then let the logic board air-dry in a warm, ventilated space for at least 30 minutes.

    Reassemble and test the device

    Reinstall the dried logic board, reconnect display and battery cables, apply new frame adhesive, and seal the screen back into place.
