Power off the iPhone

2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning port.

Heat the lower display edge
3 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the bottom edge of the screen for two minutes to soften the waterproof adhesive.

Attach suction cup and open seam
3 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the screen and pull upward gently to create a small gap above the frame.

Slice remaining display adhesive
4 minInsert an opening pick into the gap and slice along the left, bottom, and right edges to separate the screen perimeter.

Open display to the left
2 minGently swing the display open from the right side, like opening the cover of a book. Rest it against a stable object.

Unscrew main logic board shield
3 minUse a Y000 tri-point screwdriver to remove the screws holding down the lower metal connector cover.

Disconnect the battery flex cable
2 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to gently pry the battery connector straight up from its socket.

Disconnect screen and sensor cables
3 minPry up the display cable and the ambient light sensor flex cable from the logic board using a spudger.

Unscrew upper sensor bracket
3 minRemove the Y000 screws holding the metal retaining bracket over the TrueDepth camera assembly at the top of the frame.

Disconnect TrueDepth camera connectors
3 minCarefully pry the two Face ID TrueDepth camera flex connectors off the logic board with a spudger.

Lift out the Face ID module
2 minUse blunt tweezers to carefully lift the TrueDepth camera and dot projector array out of the rear case.

Position new Face ID module
3 minSet the replacement TrueDepth camera assembly into the housing alignment notch, ensuring lenses are clear of dust.

Attach sensor bracket and screws
3 minPress the flex connectors into place, re-seat the metal bracket, and secure it with the Y000 screws.

Reconnect screen and battery cables
3 minSnap the display flex cables back into their board connectors, followed by the main battery connector.

Reinstall main connector shield
3 minPlace the lower metal shield back over the connectors and tighten the Y000 tri-point screws.

Apply adhesive and seal display
4 minAlign a new perimeter adhesive strip onto the frame, press the display flat, and firm down the edges to seal.
