   Power off the iPhone

   Press and hold the side button and volume down button simultaneously, then slide to power off. Ensure the device is fully shut down before opening.

   Remove Pentalobe screws

   Unscrew the two 6.8 mm P2 Pentalobe screws located on the bottom edge near the charging port.

   Heat lower display edge

   Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the bottom edge of the display for two minutes to soften the waterproofing adhesive.

   Attach suction handle

   Press a suction cup onto the lower portion of the screen assembly, directly above the charging port.

   Insert opening pick

   Pull up firmly on the suction handle to create a narrow gap, then slide an opening pick under the glass edge.

   Slice perimeter adhesive

   Slide the opening pick around the bottom and left edges to cut through the display adhesive.

   Open display panel

   Swing the display open from the left edge like a book. Prop it against a stable object so it does not strain the display flex cables.

   Remove logic board shield screws

   Unscrew the six Y000 Tri-point screws securing the metal cover plate over the logic board connectors.

   Remove cover plate

   Use precision tweezers to lift the metal cover plate out of the enclosure.

    Disconnect battery cable

    Use the edge of a plastic spudger to pry the press-fit battery connector straight up from its socket.

    Disconnect display cables

    Pry the OLED display cable and touch sensor cable press connectors off the logic board.

    Remove loudspeaker screws

    Unscrew the four Phillips screws anchoring the bottom loudspeaker module to the frame.

    Lift out loudspeaker assembly

    Gently pry up and remove the loudspeaker module from the bottom of the enclosure.

    Remove Taptic Engine screws

    Remove the two Tri-point screws securing the Taptic Engine vibration unit to the frame.

    Remove Taptic Engine

    Disconnect the Taptic Engine ribbon cable and lift the vibration motor out of the lower chassis.

    Unscrew charging port bracket

    Remove the five screws (three Phillips, two Tri-point) holding down the Lightning port housing and surrounding ribbon cable.

    Disconnect charging port flex cable

    Pry the primary charging port connector up from its logic board socket with a plastic spudger.

    Unseat microphone elements

    Carefully pry the bottom microphone modules out of their rubber seating alignment slots in the frame.

    Heat rear enclosure bottom

    Apply heat to the outside lower rear glass to loosen the strong adhesive under the charging port flex cable.

    Pry up charging port assembly

    Slide an opening pick under the flexible ribbon cable to detach it entirely from the aluminium case.

    Install new charging port

    Align the replacement charging port assembly into the recess and press the ribbon cable down to set the adhesive.

    Reinstall internal components

    Reattach the Taptic Engine and loudspeaker module, securing them with their original screws.

    Apply display adhesive seal

    Clean remaining frame adhesive with isopropyl alcohol, then lay down a fresh pre-cut water resistance seal.

    Reconnect display and close phone

    Plug in the display cables and battery, reinstall the connector shield, press the screen flat, and replace the Pentalobe screws.
