Power Off the Device
1 minTurn off your iPhone completely before beginning disassembly to prevent short circuits.

Remove Pentalobe Screws
2 minUse a P2 pentalobe driver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws flanking the Lightning port.

Heat Bottom Display Edge
2 minApply a heat gun or heated pad to the lower edge of the glass for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPress a suction cup onto the bottom half of the screen, just above the home edge.

Insert Opening Pick
3 minPull up firmly on the suction cup to create a gap and insert a plastic pick under the display bezel.

Slice Bottom and Side Adhesive
4 minSlide the pick along the bottom edge and up both sides to cut through the waterproof adhesive tape.

Slice Top Edge Adhesive
2 minGently slide the pick across the top edge, taking care not to insert it deeper than 3 mm.

Open Display Assembly
2 minSwing the screen open to the left side like a book cover, resting it against a stable support at 90 degrees.

Unscrew Logic Board Cover Bracket
3 minRemove the six Y000 screws securing the main logic board connector cover and lift the metal bracket out with tweezers.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minPry the battery connector straight up from its logic board socket using a plastic spudger.

Disconnect Display Cables
2 minDisconnect the display flex cable and the sensor assembly flex cable from the logic board.

3 minRemove the Phillips and Y000 screws securing the ambient light sensor module to the top of the display glass.

Transfer Sensor Assembly
4 minCarefully pry up the sensor ribbon cable using tweezers and install it into the matching location on the new screen.

Apply New Perimeter Adhesive
4 minClean the housing edges with isopropyl alcohol, then lay down new pre-cut perimeter adhesive tape.

Reconnect Display Connectors
2 minPlug the sensor cable and display cable connectors back into their sockets on the logic board.

Reconnect Battery and Reattach Bracket
3 minSnap the battery connector back into place, position the metal cover bracket, and reinsert the six Y000 screws.

Press Display Into Frame
3 minAlign the top edge of the display into the chassis, then press down around all edges until the glass clips in flush.

Reinstall Pentalobe Screws
2 minDrive the two 6.8 mm P2 pentalobe screws back into the bottom of the frame next to the charge port.
