Power Down the Device

Remove Bottom Pentalobe Screws
2 minUnscrew the two P2 Pentalobe screws located on the bottom edge near the Lightning port.

Heat the Lower Display Edge
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer to the bottom edge of the screen for two minutes to soften the adhesive seal.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the display, just above the Lightning port.

Slice Screen Perimeter Adhesive
3 minPull up gently on the suction cup to create a small gap, then insert an opening pick to slice through the adhesive around the edges.

Open Display Assembly
1 minCarefully swing the display open to the right side like a book. Do not pull screen off completely as ribbon cables are still attached.

3 minRemove all screws holding the Lightning port, lower microphones, and ground springs in place.

Disconnect Charging Port Flex Cable
1 minPry the charging port ribbon connector straight up off the lower edge of the logic board.

Pry Up Charging Port Assembly
3 minGently lift the glued charging port flex assembly, including microphones, away from the bottom case.

Position New Charging Port Assembly
2 minAlign the replacement charging port, microphones, and flex cable into the lower enclosure.

Secure Charging Port Screws
3 minReinstall all retaining screws to lock the Lightning port and microphone components into position.

Reinstall Taptic Engine and Loudspeaker
3 minPlace the Taptic Engine and loudspeaker back into the chassis and tighten their screws securely.

Reconnect Cable Connectors
2 minSnap the charging port flex, display cables, and battery cable onto their board sockets.

Reseal and Close Display
