Step-by-step

Power down the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and either volume button until the slider appears. Slide to power off the device completely before starting.

Remove bottom screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws on either side of the Lightning port.

Heat the lower edge
2 minApply a heat gun on low heat to the bottom edge of the screen for two minutes to soften the internal waterproof seal.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup onto the lower third of the front display glass, just above the Lightning port.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPull up firmly on the suction cup to create a slight gap, then slide a plastic opening pick into the seam.

Slice the bottom adhesive
2 minSlide the opening pick back and forth along the bottom edge of the display to slice through the adhesive seal.

Slice the right edge
2 minMove the pick around the bottom-right corner and slide it up to the top right to detach the side display clips.

Slice the left edge
2 minSlide the pick up the left edge, inserting it no deeper than 3 mm to avoid damaging underlying flex cables.

Open the display
2 minGently swing the display open from the left edge like a book, propping it against a solid object to avoid strain.

Remove bracket screws
3 minUse a Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the screws holding the lower metal connector shield.

Detach the connector shield
1 minUse tweezers to lift and remove the metal shield covering the battery and display connectors.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from its socket using the flat edge of a spudger.

Disconnect display flex cables
2 minUse a plastic spudger to disconnect the display and ambient light sensor flex cables from the logic board.

Unstick bottom pull tabs
2 minUse blunt tweezers to peel back the black adhesive pull tabs located along the bottom edge of the battery.

Pull lower adhesive strips
4 minSlowly pull each adhesive tab out flat and horizontal to the frame until the strips fully release.

Unstick top pull tabs
2 minPeel back the remaining adhesive pull tabs located near the top edge of the battery.

Pull upper adhesive strips
4 minPull the top adhesive tabs steadily at a low angle until the remaining adhesive stretches completely out.

Remove the old battery
1 minLift the original battery out of the phone frame using a flat plastic opening tool.

Apply new adhesive strips
3 minPlace new pre-cut adhesive strips onto the back of the replacement battery, smoothing out air bubbles.

Set the new battery
2 minAlign the replacement battery in the frame and press down firmly to set the adhesive.

Reconnect cables and test
4 minReconnect the display cables and battery, reinstall the bracket cover, and power on the phone to test functionality.
