Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume down button until the power slider appears. Slide to shut down the device completely.

Remove the pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe driver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws located at the bottom edge near the Lightning port.

Heat the display adhesive
3 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer to the lower edge of the display for two minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the front glass, just above the Lightning port area.

Slice the bottom adhesive
2 minPull up on the suction cup handle to create a tiny gap and slide an opening pick underneath the screen seal.

Separate the side edges
3 minSlide the opening pick carefully along the left and right sides of the display to slice through the adhesive gasket.

Open the display
2 minGently swing open the display from the right edge toward the left like opening the cover of a book.

Remove the lower bracket screws
2 minUse a Y000 tri-point screwdriver to remove the three 1.3 mm screws securing the logic board shield cover.

Detach the connector shield
1 minUse precision tweezers to lift the metal shield out of the chassis and set it safely aside.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from its logic board socket using the flat end of a spudger.

Disconnect the display flexes
2 minDisconnect the display cable and upper sensor cable connectors from the logic board using your spudger.

Remove the display assembly
1 minLift the display assembly away from the phone body and place it face-down on a clean work surface.

Remove the TrueDepth bracket screws
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the three screws holding the metal bracket over the Face ID module.

Remove the TrueDepth bracket
1 minLift the metal retaining bracket off the top frame using tweezers.

Disconnect the Face ID module
2 minPry up the two TrueDepth camera press connectors from their board sockets with the tip of a spudger.

Remove the Face ID assembly
2 minGently lift the TrueDepth camera and Face ID sensor assembly out of its recessed notch in the housing.
