Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume down button until the power slider appears. Slide to power off the device completely.

Remove bottom pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning port.

Heat the rear glass perimeter
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer around the edges of the back glass for two minutes to soften the waterproof adhesive.

Attach a suction cup to the back glass
2 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear glass and gently pull upward to create a slight gap.

Insert an opening pick
1 minInsert a thin opening pick into the gap created at the bottom edge of the rear glass.

Slice through the adhesive seal
3 minSlide the opening pick around the perimeter of the back glass, staying shallow on the left edge to avoid damaging ribbon cables.

Open the back glass panel
1 minCarefully swing the back glass open toward the right side like the cover of a book.

Unscrew the lower connector cover
2 minUse a Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the lower connector bracket to the logic board.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the edge of a plastic spudger to gently pry the battery connector straight up from its socket.

Disconnect the rear glass assembly
2 minPry the back glass cable connector up off the board and lift the back glass panel off the device frame.

Unscrew the loudspeaker module
3 minRemove the Phillips #000 and Tri-point screws holding the bottom loudspeaker assembly to the rear housing.

Lift out the loudspeaker
1 minGently pry up and remove the loudspeaker module from the bottom of the enclosure.

Unscrew the Taptic Engine
2 minRemove the mounting screws securing the Taptic Engine vibration motor near the bottom edge.

Remove the Taptic Engine
1 minDisconnect the flex cable and lift the Taptic Engine out using precision tweezers.

Unscrew the charging port flex cable
3 minRemove all Tri-point and standoff screws anchoring the Lightning connector assembly to the bottom frame.

Unstick the microphones and port housing
2 minUse tweezers to carefully pry the lower microphones and the Lightning port bezel out of their housing slots.

Peel off the charging port flex cable
2 minSlowly peel the old charging port flex cable away from the bottom of the enclosure using a flat spudger.

Position and adhere the new charging port flex
3 minAlign the replacement flex assembly inside the housing, insert the Lightning port bezel, and press down the adhesive backing.
