Step-by-step

Power Off Device
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume down button, then slide to power off the iPhone completely.

Remove Pentalobe Screws
2 minUnscrew the two 6.7 mm P2 Pentalobe screws located on either side of the Lightning port.

Heat Lower Edge
2 minApply a heated iOpener or hair dryer to the bottom edge of the phone for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach Suction Handle
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower half of the front glass, just above the home indicator area.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap at the bottom edge, then insert an opening pick.

Slice Perimeter Seal
4 minSlide the pick around the bottom and up both sides to slice through the display adhesive. Do not insert the pick deeper than 3 mm on the right side.

Open Display Assembly
1 minSwing the display open from the left edge like the cover of a book. Lean it against a solid object to keep it supported.

Unscrew Connector Cover
3 minRemove the three Y000 screws securing the main board connector cover bracket.

Remove Connector Cover
1 minUse tweezers to lift and remove the metal connector cover bracket from the logic board.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery press connector straight up from its socket.

Disconnect Display Cables
2 minDisconnect the display cable and digitizer cable press connectors from the logic board.

Remove Display Assembly
1 minLift the display assembly away from the enclosure and place it in a safe location.

Unscrew Speaker Bracket
3 minRemove the four Phillips screws and one Y000 screw securing the lower loudspeaker assembly.

Remove Lower Speaker
2 minGently pry up and lift the loudspeaker module out of the bottom of the case.

Unscrew Taptic Engine
3 minRemove the two Y000 screws and one standoff screw securing the Taptic Engine to the chassis.

Disconnect Taptic Engine
1 minPry the Taptic Engine flex cable connector straight up from the logic board socket.

Remove Taptic Engine
1 minLift the Taptic Engine out of the iPhone enclosure using precision tweezers.
