Step-by-step

Power Off and Remove SIM Tray
2 minTurn off your iPhone completely. Insert an ejector tool into the SIM tray hole on the left edge to pop out the tray.

Remove Pentalobe Screws
2 minUnscrew the two 6.8 mm Pentalobe P2 screws located on either side of the Lightning port.

Heat the Screen Edges
3 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer along the display edges for two minutes to soften the waterproof adhesive.

Apply Suction Cup
1 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge of the front glass panel.

Slice Display Adhesive
5 minPull up gently on the suction cup to create a small gap, then insert an opening pick and slide it around the perimeter.

Open the Display
2 minGently swing the display open to the right side like a book cover.

Remove Connector Plate Screws
3 minUnscrew the three Tri-point Y000 screws securing the lower metal cover plate.

Disconnect the Battery
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery press connector straight up from its socket.

Unscrew Lower Speaker

2 minLift the loudspeaker module out of the chassis using tweezers.

Remove Taptic Engine Screws
2 minUnscrew the fasteners securing the Taptic Engine vibrator motor.

Remove Taptic Engine
2 minDisconnect the Taptic Engine ribbon cable and lift the module out of the case.

Disconnect Antenna Cables
3 minUnclip the small coaxial antenna connectors attached to the charging port flex ribbon.

Remove Port Retaining Screws
4 minUnscrew all remaining Phillips screws securing the Lightning port flex assembly to the frame.

Warm Lower Enclosure
3 minApply mild heat to the bottom exterior of the rear glass to loosen the flex cable adhesive.

Peel Up Port Assembly
4 minCarefully pry up the microphones, ground clips, and Lightning port flex cable using a flat spudger.

Install New Charging Port
4 minPosition the new charging port flex assembly into the chassis, pressing the adhesive backing firmly.

Reassemble Lower Components
5 minReinstall the Taptic Engine, loudspeaker, and secure all internal screws and antenna cables.

Reconnect Screen and Battery
4 minAttach the display flex cables, reconnect the battery cable, and screw down the metal shield plate.

Reseal and Close Display
3 minApply fresh perimeter seal adhesive, align the display top hooks, and press the screen firmly closed.
