Step-by-step

Power down the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and either volume button, then slide to power off. Ensure the device is completely powered off before continuing.

Remove pentalobe bottom screws
2 minUse a P2 pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning charging port.

Heat the lower display edge
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the lower edge of the phone screen for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach suction cup and insert pick
3 minPlace a suction handle near the bottom edge of the display and pull up firmly to create a small gap. Insert an opening pick into the gap.

Slice perimeter display adhesive
3 minSlide the pick around the edges to cut through the seal. Swing the display open from the right side like a book.

Unscrew display connector bracket
2 minRemove the three Y000 screws securing the logic board display cable bracket. Use tweezers to lift the bracket off the board.

Disconnect the battery flex
1 minUse the pointed end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket to prevent electrical shorts.

Detach display assembly
3 minDisconnect the display and front sensor assembly cables from the board. Set the display panel safely aside.

Unscrew lower logic board bracket
3 minRemove the Y000 and Phillips screws securing the metal shield covering the wireless charging connector. Lift the shield away.

Disconnect wireless charging connector
2 minGently pry the wireless charging flex cable connector off its logic board socket using the flat end of a spudger.

Heat the rear glass exterior
2 minTurn the phone over and apply heat across the center of the rear glass for two minutes to loosen the MagSafe assembly adhesive.

Pry up the old wireless charging coil
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick under the edge of the wireless charging assembly and slowly peel the coil off the inside glass.

Clean internal housing residue
2 minApply a few drops of 90%+ isopropyl alcohol to the inner housing and clear out old adhesive using a lint-free cloth.

Position new wireless charging coil
3 minPeel the adhesive protective film off the new wireless charging module. Lower it directly into the rear alignment ring and press firmly.

Secure wireless charging flex
3 minSnap the flex cable connector back into its logic board socket, then reinstall the metal bracket and securing screws.

Reconnect display and battery
3 minReattach the front sensor and display flex connectors to the board, then press the battery connector into place and reinstall its shield.

Apply new perimeter adhesive
4 minLay down new pre-cut adhesive along the housing perimeter, align the display panel, and press around the edges to seal it closed.

Fasten pentalobe screws
1 minReinstall the two P2 pentalobe screws on either side of the Lightning port to secure the screen.
