   Power Off Phone

   Press and hold the side button and volume down button, then slide to power off. Ensure the device is fully powered down before beginning repair work.

   Remove Pentalobe Screws

   Use a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws located on the bottom edge of the iPhone next to the Lightning port.

   Heat Bottom Display Edge

   Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the bottom edge of the screen for two minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

   Attach Suction Handle

   Place a suction cup onto the bottom half of the screen assembly, avoiding the speaker mesh. Press firmly to establish a secure vacuum seal.

   Slice Display Adhesive

   Pull up on the suction handle to create a tiny gap at the bottom edge, then insert an opening pick. Slide the pick along the lower and side edges to cut through the display adhesive.

   Open Display Assembly

   Gently swing open the display from the left edge like a book. Lean the display against a rigid surface so it stays upright without placing tension on the cables.

   Remove Battery Bracket Screws

   Use a Y000 tri-point screwdriver to remove the screws holding down the lower metal bracket covering the battery connector.

   Disconnect Battery Cable

   Use the pointed tip of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector press joint straight up from its logic board socket.

   Remove Logic Board Cover Bracket

   Unscrew the Y000 tri-point screws holding the display cable bracket in place, then pick up and remove the metal cover with tweezers.

    Disconnect Display Connectors

    Pry up the display and digitizer flex cable connectors using a spudger. Lift the display screen entirely away from the chassis.

    Remove Taptic Engine Screws

    Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver and standoff bit to remove the mounting screws securing the Taptic Engine assembly to the rear case.

    Disconnect Taptic Engine Cable

    Lever the flat end of a spudger under the Taptic Engine flex connector to detach it from the main logic board.

    Lift Out Taptic Engine

    Grasp the Taptic Engine module using tweezers or fingers and lift it directly up and out of the housing.

    Position New Taptic Engine

    Set the replacement Taptic Engine into position inside the lower chassis, aligning it with the mounting screw holes.

    Secure Taptic Engine Screws

    Reinstall and tighten the mounting screws firmly to hold the new Taptic Engine unit flush against the enclosure.

    Connect Taptic Engine Cable

    Align the press connector over its motherboard socket and push down until you feel it click gently into place.

    Reconnect Screen and Battery

    Reconnect the display cables and battery connector, then reinstall the protective metal brackets and tighten all retaining screws.

    Seal and Close Display

    Apply new perimeter frame adhesive, align the top edge of the screen first, and press down along the sides to snap the display into place.
