Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Power off device
1 minTurn off your iPhone completely before beginning disassembly. Ensure the battery level is below 25% to reduce the risk of fire if punctured.
- 2
Remove Pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe driver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning charging port.
- 3
Heat bottom edge
3 minApply a heated iOpener or hair dryer to the lower edge of the phone for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.
- 4
Attach suction handle
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the bottom half of the glass screen, just above the home indicator area.
- 5
Separate display adhesive
3 minPull up on the suction handle to create a small gap at the bottom edge, then insert a plastic opening pick under the glass.
- 6
Slice perimeter seal
4 minSlide the pick around the bottom and side edges to cut through the adhesive. Insert no more than 3 mm along the left side to avoid damaging display cables.
- 7
Open display assembly
2 minSwing the display open from the right edge like a book cover. Prop it securely against a rigid object so it does not strain the ribbon cables.
- 8
Unscrew metal bracket
3 minUse a Y000 tri-point driver to remove the three screws securing the logic board connector cover bracket.
- 9
Disconnect battery flex
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to gently pry the battery press connector straight up out of its socket.
- 10
Unbolt loudspeaker assembly
3 minRemove the four screws holding the lower speaker module to the phone frame using a Phillips and Standoff driver.
- 11
Extract damaged loudspeaker
2 minInsert a spudger underneath the edge of the loudspeaker and pry it out of the chassis.
- 12
Position new speaker
2 minSet the replacement loudspeaker module into the bottom housing, aligning its mounting holes with the chassis screw posts.
- 13
Fasten speaker screws
3 minReinstall and tighten the four mounting screws to secure the speaker module to the enclosure.
- 14
Reconnect battery press connector
2 minAlign the battery cable over its socket and press down firmly until you feel a distinct click.
- 15
Reattach bracket plate
3 minPosition the logic board bracket over the connectors and secure it with the three tri-point screws.
- 16
Close display panel
3 minAlign the top edge of the display into the frame, then press firmly along the perimeter until the screen snaps into place.
- 17
Reinstall Pentalobe screws
2 minThread and tighten the two P2 Pentalobe screws into the base of the phone next to the Lightning port.
