Step-by-step
- 1
Remove bottom Pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe driver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning connector.
- 2
Heat the front display edge
2 minApply a hot iOpener or heat gun to the bottom edge of the iPhone for two minutes to soften the waterproof adhesive.

Slice perimeter display adhesive
5 minAttach a suction handle to the lower screen, pull up firmly to create a gap, and slide an opening pick around the edges to cut the seal.
- 4
Open display to the right

- 6
Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery press connector straight up from its socket.

Disconnect display flex cables
2 minPry up the OLED screen and digitizer ribbon cable press connectors from the logic board.
- 8
Remove front sensor shield screws
2 minUnscrew the Y000 screws holding the upper sensor assembly shield and lift the metal plate out with tweezers.
- 9
Disconnect upper sensor flex cable
2 minPry up the ambient light sensor and earpiece flex connector, then free the complete display assembly from the chassis.
- 10
Eject SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject pin or thin paperclip into the hole on the side frame to pop out the SIM tray.
- 11
Disconnect rear camera module
3 minUnscrew the rear camera shield plate and disconnect all three camera flex connectors using a spudger.
- 12
Disconnect remaining board flexes
4 minCarefully detach the Lightning port, wireless charging coil, speaker, and antenna press connectors from the logic board.
- 13
Unscrew logic board standoff fasteners
3 minUse a specialized standoff driver to remove the raised standoff screws holding the logic board to the inner frame.
- 14
Extract the logic board
2 minGently pivot the logic board up from the bottom edge and lift it out of the rear case, checking for any caught flex cables.
- 15
Clean pad areas with alcohol and flux
3 minApply a drop of 99% isopropyl alcohol and flux to the target repair zone under magnification to clean solder pads.
- 16
Micro-solder damaged board traces or components
15 minUse a fine-tip soldering iron and desoldering braid to clear shorts or bridge broken traces with jumper wire.
