Step-by-step
- 1
Power Off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume down button simultaneously until the slider appears. Slide to turn off the iPhone completely before starting disassembly.
- 2
Remove Pentalobe Screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning charging port.
- 3
Heat Bottom Edge
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the bottom edge of the phone for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.
- 4
Attach Suction Handle
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower third of the display glass, just above the home button area, and press firmly into place.
- 5
Create Initial Display Gap
3 minPull up on the suction handle with firm, steady pressure to create a small gap between the screen and the metal frame. Insert an opening pick into the gap.
- 6
Slice Bottom Adhesive
2 minSlide the opening pick back and forth along the bottom edge of the device to cut through the water-resistance sealant.
- 7
Slice Right Edge Adhesive
2 minMove the pick carefully around the bottom-right corner and slide it up the right side to separate the display clips.
- 8
Slice Top Edge Adhesive
2 minSlide the pick across the top edge of the device, keeping the pick inserted no deeper than 2 mm to avoid damaging top sensors.
- 9
Slice Left Edge Adhesive
2 minGuide the pick down the left edge of the phone, being cautious near the center where delicate display cables are routed.
- 10
Open Display to the Left
1 minGently swing the display open from the right side like the cover of a book, propping it against a sturdy object.

- 12
Remove Lower Bracket

- 13
Disconnect the Battery Cable
1 minUse the edge of a plastic spudger to pry the battery press connector straight up off its socket on the logic board.
- 14
Unscrew Logic Board Display Bracket
2 minRemove the two Y000 Tri-point screws securing the upper display cable bracket to the logic board.
- 15
Disconnect Display Cables
2 minDisconnect the display flex cable and the front sensor assembly cable using the tip of a spudger.
- 16
Separate Display Assembly
1 minLift the entire display assembly away from the rear case and set it in a safe location.
- 17
Unpeel Battery Adhesive Pull Tabs
3 minLocate the black adhesive pull tabs at the top and bottom edges of the battery and peel them back gently using tweezers.
- 18
Pull Bottom Adhesive Strips
5 minSlowly pull each bottom adhesive strip out from beneath the battery at a low, flat angle until the strip releases completely.
- 19
Pull Top Adhesive Strips
5 minPull the remaining top adhesive tabs steadily at a flat angle, taking care not to snag them on neighboring components.
- 20
Remove the Battery
2 minLift the battery out of the rear enclosure. If any adhesive remains, apply a few drops of isopropyl alcohol around the edges and wait two minutes before lifting.
