Power Off iPhone
1 minTurn off your iPhone completely before starting disassembly to avoid electrical short circuits.

Remove Pentalobe Screws
2 minUnscrew the two 6.8 mm P2 Pentalobe screws located on either side of the Lightning charging port.

Heat Bottom Edge
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer to the lower edge of the display for two minutes to soften the display seal adhesive.

Apply Suction Cup
2 minPlace a suction cup on the lower half of the glass screen, just above the home button area, and pull up firmly to create a gap.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minInsert a thin plastic opening pick into the gap between the screen assembly and the outer frame.

Slice Display Adhesive
3 minSlide the pick around the bottom and up the sides to slice through the adhesive seal. Do not insert the pick too deeply on the right side.

Open Display Cover
1 minGently swing the display open from the right edge like a book cover, resting it against a stable object.

Unscrew Lower Bracket
2 minRemove the three Tri-point Y000 screws holding the lower metal connector bracket to the logic board.

Remove Lower Bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift the metal cover bracket straight out of the phone chassis.

Disconnect Battery
1 minUse the pointed end of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the motherboard.

Disconnect Display Assembly
2 minDisconnect the display flex cable connector with a spudger and set the screen assembly aside safely.

Unscrew Loudspeaker Assembly
3 minRemove the Phillips and Tri-point screws securing the speaker housing at the bottom of the chassis.

Remove Loudspeaker
2 minGently pry up the speaker module using a spudger and remove it from the bottom of the enclosure.

Unscrew Taptic Engine
2 minRemove the Phillips screws and standoff screws securing the Taptic Engine to the lower case frame.

Disconnect Taptic Cable
1 minPry the Taptic Engine ribbon cable connector straight up from its socket using a flat spudger tool.

Remove Taptic Engine
1 minLift the original Taptic Engine unit out of the iPhone chassis.

Install Replacement Taptic Engine
2 minPosition the new Taptic Engine into place and press down gently to align the flex cable, then press the connector into place.

Fasten Taptic Screws
2 minReinstall and tighten the original screws to hold the replacement Taptic Engine securely to the frame.
