Step-by-step

Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume down button, then slide to power off.

Remove the Pentalobe screws
2 minUnscrew the two 3.5 mm Pentalobe P2 screws on either side of the Lightning connector.

Heat the lower edge
2 minApply a hot heat gun or hair dryer to the lower edge of the phone for 2 minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower half of the front glass, just above the home indicator area.

Slice the adhesive
3 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap, then insert an opening pick into the lower edge and slide along the left side.

Open the iPhone
1 minSwing the display open from the left side like the cover of a book.

Remove the logic board cover screws
2 minUse a Y000 driver to remove the three Y000 screws securing the logic board connector bracket.

Disconnect the battery
1 minUse a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect the display cables
2 minPry up the display cable connector and ambient light sensor cable connector from the board.

Unscrew the loudspeaker assembly
3 minRemove the four Phillips #000 screws securing the loudspeaker to the lower rear case.

Remove the loudspeaker
2 minGently pry up the loudspeaker module using a flat spudger and lift it out of the device.

Install the new loudspeaker
2 minAlign the replacement loudspeaker in the bottom enclosure and press it into place.

Secure the speaker screws
2 minReinstall the four Phillips screws firmly to hold the new loudspeaker in place.

Reconnect display and battery
3 minAttach the display connectors and press the battery connector back onto the logic board.

Reattach the cover bracket
2 minPlace the connector bracket over the cables and tighten the three Y000 screws.

Seal the display assembly
2 minAlign the top edge of the display first, then press firmly around the edges to snap it back into the frame.
