Step-by-step

Power down the device
1 minTurn off your iPhone completely before starting any disassembly. Press and hold the side button and volume button, then slide to power off.

Remove bottom pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe driver to remove the two 3.5 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning port.

Apply heat to lower display edge
3 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the bottom edge of the phone for about two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the display screen, taking care not to place it over the speaker grille.

Separate the display screen
3 minPull up on the suction cup with firm, constant force to create a small gap between the screen and the outer frame.

Slice perimeter adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap and slide it along the bottom and sides to slice through the adhesive seal.

Open the display assembly
2 minSwing the screen open from the right edge, like the front cover of a book, resting it against a stable object.

Unscrew lower connector bracket
3 minUse a Y000 tri-point driver to remove the four screws securing the battery and display connector cover.

Remove lower connector bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift the metal shield bracket off the logic board and set it aside.

Disconnect the battery
2 minUse a spudger to gently pry the battery press connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect the display panel
2 minPry the display cable connector straight up from the logic board using the tip of a spudger.

Remove display assembly
1 minDetach the screen assembly completely from the enclosure and set it on a clean workspace mat.

Unscrew the loudspeaker assembly
3 minRemove the four screws holding the loudspeaker module to the bottom of the case using a Phillips driver.

Lift out the loudspeaker
2 minInsert a spudger under the top edge of the loudspeaker and gently pry it up and out of the phone body.

Unscrew the primary microphone bracket
2 minRemove the two Phillips screws securing the microphone bracket near the bottom edge of the frame.

Pry up lower microphone assembly
4 minGently slide a flat opening tool beneath the primary microphone and flex cable to unstick it from the chassis.

Install replacement microphone cable
5 minAlign the new microphone and flex assembly in the lower enclosure and press firmly to adhere it into place.
