Power down phone

Open the display assembly
2 minSwing the display open from the right edge like a book, supporting it against a box so it does not strain the internal flex cables.

3 minUse a Y000 tri-point screwdriver to remove the three screws securing the logic board cover bracket.

Remove main connector shield

Unscrew Face ID bracket
2 minRemove the two Y000 screws holding the metal retaining bracket over the TrueDepth camera and Face ID sensor assembly.

Remove upper bracket
1 minGently lift out the metal retaining bracket covering the Face ID sensors using tweezers.

Disconnect Face ID module
2 minUse the edge of a spudger to disconnect both the infrared camera and dot projector flex cable press connectors from the board.

Extract Face ID sensor assembly
3 minCarefully pry the Face ID camera and sensor module out of its housing notch in the upper frame.

Install replacement Face ID module
2 minAlign the new Face ID sensor module into the chassis recess and press gently until it sits flush.

Reconnect display and battery
5 minReattach the Face ID, display, and battery flex connectors, reinstall metal brackets with screws, and seal the screen closed.
