Step-by-step

Power Off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and either volume button until the slider appears. Slide to power down the device completely.

Remove Pentalobe Screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.7 mm screws located on the bottom edge of the iPhone.

Heat the Bottom Edge
2 minApply a heated iOpener or hairdryer to the lower edge of the phone for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower half of the front display, just above the Lightning port.

Separate Bottom Edge
2 minPull up firmly on the suction cup to create a small gap, then insert an opening pick under the glass frame.

Slice Left Edge Adhesive
2 minSlide the opening pick up the left edge of the phone to cut through the waterproof adhesive tape.

Slice Right Edge Adhesive
2 minSlide the pick along the right edge to slice the remaining adhesive, being careful not to insert the pick too deeply.

Open Display Assembly
1 minGently swing the display open from the left side like a book cover. Prop it up against a box to prevent strain on the flex cables.

Unscrew Connector Cover
2 minUse a Y000 Tri-point driver to remove the four screws securing the display and battery connector bracket.

Remove Connector Cover Bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift the metal cover bracket out of the device chassis.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to lever the battery connector straight up out of its socket.

Disconnect Display Cables
2 minDisconnect the display and digitizer flex cables using a plastic spudger to lift them from the logic board.

Detach Display Assembly
1 minLift the display assembly away from the frame and set it aside in a safe location.

Unscrew Loudspeaker Fasteners
3 minUse a Phillips PH00 and Y000 screwdriver to remove the four screws holding the bottom loudspeaker in place.

Remove Loudspeaker Module
2 minInsert the tip of a spudger beneath the edge of the loudspeaker and lift it up out of the case.

Position New Loudspeaker
2 minAlign the replacement loudspeaker module with the bottom corner of the housing and press it firmly into position.
