Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume down button until the power slider appears. Slide to completely turn off the device.

Remove the pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.7 mm screws on either side of the Lightning port.

Heat the lower edge
2 minApply a heat gun or hairdryer to the bottom edge of the phone for about two minutes to soften the waterproof adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the bottom half of the glass screen, just above the Lightning port.

Separate the glass edge
3 minPull up on the suction cup with firm pressure to create a small gap, then slide an opening pick under the screen.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
4 minSlide the pick around the left and right edges of the device to cut through the display adhesive sealant.

Open the display
2 minGently swing the screen open from the left edge toward the right edge like opening a book cover.

Remove the lower bracket screws
3 minUse a Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the four screws holding the logic board cover plate.

Remove the display connector bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift out the metal cover plate protecting the display and battery connectors.

Disconnect the battery flex cable
1 minUse the point of a plastic spudger to pop the battery connector straight up out of its socket.

Disconnect the screen display cables
2 minDisconnect the OLED display connector and the touch panel digitizer connector using a spudger.

Unscrew the earpiece speaker bracket
3 minRemove the four Tri-point screws securing the upper earpiece speaker assembly to the back of the screen.

Transfer the earpiece speaker assembly
5 minCarefully detach the earpiece speaker and sensor array, then transfer it onto the new screen assembly.

Clean the frame edge
4 minScrape off any leftover adhesive residue around the aluminum housing using a plastic pick and isopropyl alcohol.

Apply the display adhesive frame
3 minPeel and press a new adhesive gasket onto the outer edge of the frame, then remove the backing film.

Reconnect the screen and battery cables
3 minPress the display, digitizer, and battery cable connectors firmly into place until they click.

Reinstall the metal cover brackets
3 minPosition the metal shield plates over the connectors and tighten all Tri-point screws until snug.

Press the screen into the frame
2 minAlign the top edge of the display first, then gently press around the edges until the screen snaps flush into the chassis.

Reinstall the pentalobe screws
2 minThread and tighten the two P2 Pentalobe screws into the bottom edge of the frame near the Lightning port.
