Step-by-step

Power Off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and either volume button until the slider appears. Slide to completely turn off the phone.

Remove the Pentalobe Screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe driver to remove the two 6.8 mm screws on the bottom edge of the iPhone.

Warm the Lower Edge
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer to the lower edge of the phone for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Apply Suction Cup
1 minAttach a suction cup to the lower half of the display screen, just above the home indicator area.

Separate the Display Screen
3 minPull up on the suction cup while inserting an opening pick into the gap between the screen and frame to slice the adhesive.

Open the Display Assembly
2 minGently swing the screen open to the left side like a book cover. Prop it up against a steady object so it does not strain the cables.

Unscrew the Battery Cover Plate
2 minRemove the two Y000 tri-point screws holding the battery connector cover bracket to the logic board.

Disconnect the Battery Cable
2 minRemove the metal bracket using tweezers, then pry the battery connector straight up from its socket using a spudger.

Disconnect the Display Flex Cables
3 minUnscrew the display cover plate, lift it out, and disconnect the OLED screen and digitizer cables from the logic board.

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the housing to pop out the SIM tray.

Remove Rear Camera Bracket
3 minUnscrew the bracket securing the rear camera module, lift the bracket off, and disconnect the camera press connectors.

Unscrew the Logic Board
4 minRemove all standoff screws and bracket screws securing the main logic board to the enclosure.

Remove the Logic Board
3 minDisconnect the remaining interconnect cables from the logic board and lift it out of the rear housing.

Remove the Battery
5 minPull the stretch-release adhesive tabs from the bottom and top of the battery, then lift the battery out.

Heat the Wireless Charging Area
2 minApply heat to the center exterior of the rear glass for two minutes to soften the adhesive beneath the wireless charging coil.

Pry Up the Charging Coil
4 minInsert a flat spudger under the edges of the wireless charging coil assembly and lift it away from the rear casing.

Install the New Wireless Charging Coil
3 minPeel the adhesive backing on the replacement coil assembly, align it precisely over the MagSafe magnets, and press firm into place.
