Step-by-step

Unscrew bottom pentalobe screws
2 minPower off the iPhone completely. Remove the two 6.8 mm P2 Pentalobe screws located on either side of the Lightning port.

Heat bottom display edge
2 minApply heat to the bottom edge of the phone for two minutes using a hair dryer or heat pad to soften the display adhesive.

Attach suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower third of the display assembly, just above the lightning port.

Create initial opening
2 minPull up on the suction cup with firm, steady pressure to create a small gap between the screen panel and the outer frame.

Insert opening pick
1 minInsert an opening pick into the small gap created along the bottom edge of the screen.

Slice bottom adhesive
2 minSlide the pick along the bottom edge of the phone to cut through the seal holding the display.

Slice left side adhesive
2 minSlide the pick carefully up the left edge of the screen to release the side adhesive strips.

Slice top and right adhesive
3 minContinue sliding the pick around the top edge and down the right side of the frame to free all remaining adhesive.

Open display like a book
1 minGently swing the display open from the right side, leaning it against a box or wall so as not to strain the ribbon cables.

Unscrew display connector bracket
2 minRemove the two Y000 Tri-point screws securing the metal cover bracket over the battery and display connectors.

Remove connector bracket
1 minUse precision tweezers to lift and remove the metal cover bracket from the logic board.

Disconnect battery cable
1 minPry the battery connector straight up from its logic board socket using the flat end of a plastic spudger.

Disconnect display cables
3 minDisconnect the OLED display, digitizer, and front sensor assembly cables from the board using a spudger.

Separate screen assembly
1 minLift the display assembly completely away from the rear enclosure and place it in a safe area.

Expose battery pull tabs
2 minUse tweezers to peel back the black adhesive tips on the four stretch-release tabs at the top and bottom of the battery.

Pull adhesive strips
5 minSlowly pull each stretch tab flat and parallel to the housing until the adhesive strip comes out completely.

Remove original battery
3 minLift the old battery out of the frame; apply a few drops of isopropyl alcohol underneath if any residual glue holds it down.

Install new battery adhesive
2 minApply new pre-cut adhesive strips onto the back of your replacement battery, removing the protective liner.

Seat replacement battery
2 minPress the new battery firmly into place in the rear housing, aligning the connector briefly to ensure proper position.
