Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Remove Pentalobe Screws
2 minPower off your iPhone completely. Use a P2 pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.7 mm screws located on the bottom edge of the device.
- 2
Heat Lower Edge
2 minApply a hair dryer or heat gun to the bottom edge of the phone for about two minutes to soften the display adhesive.
- 3
Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower half of the display screen, positioning it just above the lightning port.
- 4
Create Lower Seam
2 minPull up firmly on the suction cup to create a small gap between the screen assembly and the outer frame.
- 5
Insert Opening Pick
1 minInsert the tip of a plastic opening pick into the gap created at the bottom edge of the phone.
- 6
Slice Bottom Adhesive
2 minSlide the opening pick back and forth along the bottom edge to slice through the display waterproof adhesive.
- 7
Slice Right Edge Adhesive
2 minMove the pick around the bottom-right corner and slide it up the right edge to release the perimeter adhesive.
- 8
Slice Top Edge Adhesive
2 minCarefully slide the pick around the top-right corner and across the top edge, being careful not to insert it deeper than 3 mm.
- 9
Slice Left Edge Adhesive
2 minSlide the pick along the left edge of the phone. Do not slide deep near the upper-left, as critical display flex cables reside there.
- 10
Open Display Screen
1 minGently swing the display open from the right side to the left side, opening it like a book.
- 11
Unscrew Lower Connector Cover
3 minRemove the four Y000 tri-point screws holding down the lower logic board connector shield.

Separate Display Assembly
1 minLift the entire screen assembly off the main body and place it face down on your clean workspace.
- 19
Unscrew Earpiece Speaker
3 minRemove the four screws (Y000 and Phillips #00) securing the earpiece speaker and sensor array to the old screen.
- 20
Flip Earpiece Speaker
1 minUse a spudger to gently flip the earpiece speaker down away from the top bezel.
- 21
Unseat Front Sensors
3 minCarefully slide a thin prying tool beneath the microphone, proximity sensor, and ambient light sensor to unstick them from the housing.
- 22
Transfer Sensors to New Display
3 minPosition the earpiece speaker and sensor flex cable onto your replacement screen assembly, seating each sensor in its notch.
- 23
Secure Sensor Screws
3 minFold the earpiece speaker back over the sensors and reinstall the four retention screws.
- 24
Apply New Frame Adhesive
4 minClean remaining adhesive off the frame with isopropyl alcohol, then press the new precut adhesive seal into place around the rim.

Reconnect All Display Cables
3 minPlug the sensor assembly cable, touch cable, OLED display cable, and battery cable back into their board sockets.
