   Power off the device

   Turn off your iPhone completely before starting disassembly. This prevents electrical shorts during the repair.

   Remove pentalobe screws

   Unscrew the two 6.7 mm P2 Pentalobe screws located on the bottom edge of the iPhone next to the Lightning port.

   Heat the bottom edge

   Apply a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting to the bottom edge of the screen for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

   Attach a suction cup

   Place a suction cup on the lower portion of the screen just above the Lightning port.

   Pry the display up

   Pull up firmly on the suction cup to create a small gap between the screen assembly and the outer frame.

   Insert an opening pick

   Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap at the bottom edge of the frame.

   Slice the bottom seal

   Slide the pick back and forth along the bottom edge to slice through the perimeter adhesive.

   Slice the left edge seal

   Carefully slide the opening pick up the left edge of the phone to separate the adhesive.

   Slice the right edge seal

   Slide the pick up the right side of the device, keeping insert depth under 3 mm to avoid damaging display cables.

    Open the display screen

    Gently swing the display open from the right edge like opening a book cover.

    Unscrew the logic board shield

    Remove the four Tri-point Y000 screws securing the lower logic board connector cover plate.

    Remove the shield plate

    Use precision tweezers to lift the metal shield plate away from the logic board.

    Disconnect the battery

    Pry the battery connector straight up off its socket using the flat end of a spudger.

    Disconnect screen cables

    Disconnect the display panel and digitizer flex cables from the logic board.

    Separate the display assembly

    Lift the display assembly away from the enclosure entirely and store it in a safe place.

    Unscrew the Taptic Engine

    Remove the Tri-point Y000 and Phillips screws securing the Taptic Engine and lower speaker cover.

    Remove the Taptic Engine

    Lift out the Taptic Engine module to clear access to the bottom battery adhesive pull-tabs.

    Locate adhesive pull-tabs

    Unpeel the black pull-tab tips attached to the upper and lower edges of the battery.

    Pull adhesive strips

    Slowly pull each adhesive strip out horizontally at a flat angle until it stretches out from under the battery.

    Dissolve stubborn adhesive

    If a strip breaks, apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the battery edge and wait two minutes.

    Lift the old battery

    Use a plastic spudger to gently lift the battery out from the frame without bending it.

    Apply new battery strips

    Adhere pre-cut battery adhesive strips onto the back of the replacement battery assembly.

    Install the new battery

    Set the new battery carefully into the frame, press firmly to secure, and reassemble the device in reverse order.
