Step-by-step

Power off the device

Remove pentalobe screws
2 minUnscrew the two 6.7 mm P2 Pentalobe screws located on the bottom edge of the iPhone next to the Lightning port.

Heat the bottom edge
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting to the bottom edge of the screen for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the screen just above the Lightning port.

Pry the display up
3 minPull up firmly on the suction cup to create a small gap between the screen assembly and the outer frame.

Insert an opening pick
2 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap at the bottom edge of the frame.

Slice the bottom seal
2 minSlide the pick back and forth along the bottom edge to slice through the perimeter adhesive.

Slice the left edge seal
2 minCarefully slide the opening pick up the left edge of the phone to separate the adhesive.

Slice the right edge seal
2 minSlide the pick up the right side of the device, keeping insert depth under 3 mm to avoid damaging display cables.

Unscrew the logic board shield
3 minRemove the four Tri-point Y000 screws securing the lower logic board connector cover plate.

Remove the shield plate

5 minSlowly pull each adhesive strip out horizontally at a flat angle until it stretches out from under the battery.

Dissolve stubborn adhesive
3 minIf a strip breaks, apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the battery edge and wait two minutes.

Lift the old battery
2 minUse a plastic spudger to gently lift the battery out from the frame without bending it.

Apply new battery strips
2 minAdhere pre-cut battery adhesive strips onto the back of the replacement battery assembly.

Install the new battery
5 minSet the new battery carefully into the frame, press firmly to secure, and reassemble the device in reverse order.
