Step-by-step

Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button and either volume button, then slide the power icon to turn off the device completely.

Unscrew bottom pentalobe screws
2 minUse a P2 Pentalobe driver to remove the two 3.5 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning charging port.

Heat the lower display edge
2 minApply a heat gun or hairdryer to the bottom edge of the phone for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower half of the display assembly, just above the home indicator line.

Slice left perimeter adhesive

2 minReinsert the pick at the bottom edge and slice up the right edge to separate the adhesive.

Slice top edge adhesive
2 minGently insert the pick under the top edge of the display and slide across to release the top clips.

Open the display

Unscrew lower connector cover
2 minUse a Y000 tri-point driver to remove the four tri-point screws holding the battery and display bracket.

Remove lower connector cover
1 minUse tweezers to lift out the metal cover plate protecting the logic board connectors.

2 minReinstall the four screws using a screwdriver to anchor the sensor assembly onto the new screen panel.

Clean enclosure perimeter frame
3 minRemove old adhesive strips around the edges of the aluminum housing using isopropyl alcohol and a pick.

Apply display seal adhesive
3 minPeel the backing off a new pre-cut perimeter adhesive gasket and align it carefully over the phone housing.

Reconnect display and sensor cables
2 minSnap the display cable and upper sensor cable connectors back onto their logic board sockets.
