Step-by-step

Power Off and Remove Screws
2 minTurn off your iPhone completely. Remove the two 6.8 mm Pentalobe P2 screws from the bottom edge next to the Lightning port.

Heat Bottom Screen Edge
3 minApply a heat gun or hairdryer to the lower edge of the iPhone for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
2 minPlace a suction cup on the lower half of the screen, just above the home indicator area, and pull up firmly to create a slight gap.

Insert Plastic Opening Pick
2 minInsert a plastic prying tool or opening pick into the gap between the display assembly and the outer frame.

Slice Display Adhesive
4 minSlide the pick around the left and right edges to slice through the adhesive holding the display in place.

Open Display Assembly
2 minSwing the screen open from the right side like the front cover of a book. Do not separate it completely yet.

Remove Battery Connector Bracket
3 minUnscrew the two Y000 tri-point screws holding the battery connector cover plate and lift the bracket out.

Disconnect the Battery
2 minUse a plastic spudger to gently pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect Display Cables
3 minDisconnect the OLED panel and digitizer flex cables from the logic board using the point of a spudger.

Remove Logic Board Bracket
4 minUnscrew the Phillips and Tri-point screws securing the upper motherboard cover and set the metal shield aside.

Remove the Logic Board
5 minDisconnect all remaining upper flex cables, eject the SIM tray, and carefully lift the logic board out of the housing.

Remove Power Button Metal Bracket
3 minUnscrew the Phillips screws holding the internal metal bracket behind the power button switch.

Replace Power Button Assembly
5 minUse fine tweezers to peel back the power button cable, remove the faulty switch, and seat the new replacement assembly firmly in place.
