Step-by-step

Power Off the iPhone
1 minTurn off your iPhone 12 Mini completely before beginning disassembly to prevent electrical shorts.

Remove Pentalobe Screws
2 minUse a P2 pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 3.5 mm screws located on either side of the Lightning port.

Heat the Lower Edge
2 minApply a heat gun or hairdryer to the bottom edge of the device for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower glass, taking care not to place it over the edge of the screen.

Lift Screen and Insert Pick
3 minPull up firmly on the suction cup to create a slight gap, then insert an opening pick under the lower edge.

Slice Display Adhesive
4 minSlide the plastic pick along the left and right edges to cut through the perimeter waterproof seal.

2 minSwing the display open from the right edge like a book, resting it upright against a stable object.

Remove Lower Bracket Screws
3 minUse a Y000 tri-point screwdriver to remove the four screws securing the lower logic board cover plate.

1 minLift the metal connector cover bracket out of the phone using tweezers and set it aside.

1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from its logic board socket using the pointed end of a spudger.

Disconnect Display Connectors
2 minDisconnect the OLED display cable and digitizer cable press connectors from the logic board using a spudger.

Remove Loudspeaker Screws
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the four screws holding the lower speaker enclosure in place.

Remove Lower Loudspeaker
2 minGently pry up and remove the loudspeaker assembly from the bottom of the phone case.

Remove Taptic Engine Screws
3 minUnscrew the Standoff and Phillips screws securing the Taptic Engine vibration motor.

Remove the Taptic Engine
2 minDisconnect the Taptic Engine ribbon cable and lift the motor unit out of the chassis.

Unbolt Microphone Assembly Screws
3 minRemove the Phillips screws holding the microphone rubber boot and lower flex cable assembly to the frame.

Peel Lower Microphone Flex
4 minApply mild heat to the rear case bottom, then slide a thin pry tool under the primary microphone and flex cable to release the adhesive.

Install New Microphone Assembly
3 minAlign the replacement flex cable and microphone module into the lower frame housing, pressing firmly to set the adhesive.
