Step-by-step

Power off the iPhone
1 minPress and hold the side button along with either volume button until the slider appears. Slide to power off the device completely.

Remove pentalobe screws
2 minUnscrew the two 6.7 mm P2 Pentalobe screws located on either side of the Lightning connector port.

Heat the lower display edge
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the bottom edge of the phone for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach suction handle
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower half of the display screen, just above the home button area.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
5 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap and insert an opening pick. Slide the pick around the edges to separate the adhesive.

Open the display panel
2 minSwing the screen open from the left side like a book. Lean it against a rigid object to prevent strain on the display cables.

Remove battery connector bracket
3 minUnscrew the three Y000 tri-point screws holding the battery connector cover plate and lift the bracket out.

Disconnect the battery
1 minUse the pointed end of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

Disconnect display cables
4 minRemove the display cable bracket screws, then use a spudger to disconnect the display and digitizer flex cables.

Remove rear camera assembly
4 minUnscrew the camera bracket, disconnect the camera press connectors, and lift the rear camera module out of the case.

Remove the logic board
8 minUnscrew all standoff and tri-point screws securing the main logic board, then carefully lift it out of the housing.

Heat the wireless charging coil
3 minApply heat to the exterior back glass over the center area to loosen the adhesive backing of the wireless charging pad.

Pry up damaged charging coil
5 minInsert a thin flat spudger under the edges of the wireless charging coil and carefully peel it off the rear enclosure.

Install new wireless coil
3 minPeel the adhesive backing from the replacement wireless charging coil and press it firmly into position inside the case.

Reassemble the device
10 minReinstall the logic board, rear cameras, display cables, and battery in reverse order, using new waterproof adhesive strips before sealing.
