Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Remove Pentalobe Screws
2 minPower off the iPhone completely. Remove the two 3.4 mm P2 Pentalobe screws located on either side of the Lightning charging port.
- 2
Warm Display Adhesive
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer to apply mild heat around the bottom perimeter of the display for about two minutes. This softens the water-resistant seal.
- 3
Apply Suction Cup
1 minAttach a suction cup to the lower portion of the front glass, just above the home screen area. Pull up gently to create a small gap between the screen and frame.
- 4
Slice Perimeter Adhesive
3 minInsert an opening pick into the gap along the bottom edge. Slide the pick around the left and right edges to cut through the display adhesive.
- 5
Open Display Assembly
2 minGently swing the display open from the left side to the right, like the cover of a book. Rest the display against a stable object to avoid straining the flex cables.
- 6
Remove Battery Bracket Screws
2 minUse a Y000 tri-point screwdriver to remove the three screws securing the battery connector bracket to the logic board.
- 7
Disconnect Battery Cable
2 minUse tweezers to remove the metal bracket. Pry the battery press connector straight up from its socket on the logic board using a plastic spudger.
- 8
Unscrew Logic Board Cover
2 minRemove the five Y000 screws holding the metal cover plate over the lower display flex cables.
- 9
Detach Display Connectors
3 minRemove the cover plate, then use the flat end of a spudger to disconnect the display and digitizer cables. Set the display assembly aside.
- 10
Remove Loudspeaker Fasteners
2 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the three screws securing the bottom loudspeaker assembly to the rear case.
- 11
Pry Out Loudspeaker
2 minInsert a plastic spudger under the top edge of the speaker module near the Taptic Engine. Gently lever the loudspeaker up and lift it out of the enclosure.
- 12
Install New Loudspeaker
2 minPosition the replacement speaker into the lower chassis, ensuring the contact pads align properly with the logic board grounding points.
- 13
Secure Speaker Screws
2 minReinstall the three Phillips #000 screws to lock the replacement loudspeaker module firmly in place.
- 14
Reconnect Display and Battery
4 minAttach the display flex cables, reinstall their protective shield, then reconnect the battery cable and secure its bracket with the Y000 screws.
- 15
Close Display and Fasten Screws
3 minAlign the top edge of the screen, press the display down into the frame until it snaps flush, and reinstall the two bottom P2 Pentalobe screws.
