   Power off the device

   Press and hold the side button and either volume button until the slider appears, then slide to power off completely.

   Remove the bottom pentalobe screws

   Use a P2 pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two 6.7 mm screws located on both sides of the charging port.

   Heat the bottom edge of the screen

   Apply a heated iOpener or hair dryer to the bottom edge of the device for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

   Attach suction cup and lift display

   Apply a suction cup to the lower half of the glass screen, just above the home edge, and pull upward firmly to create a small gap.

   Slice the display adhesive

   Insert an opening pick into the gap and slowly slide it along the left and right edges to cut through the perimeter adhesive.

   Open the display assembly

   Swing the screen open from the right edge like a book, leaning it upright against a box or wall to prevent strain on the cables.

   Unscrew the lower connector bracket

   Use a Y000 tri-point screwdriver to remove the three screws securing the lower metal connector bracket.

   Remove the lower connector bracket

   Use precision tweezers to lift the metal shield bracket off the logic board and set it aside.

   Disconnect the battery cable

   Pry the battery connector straight up off its logic board socket using the flat end of a plastic spudger.

    Disconnect the display and touch cables

    Use a plastic spudger to gently pop the display cable connector and digitizer cable connector straight off their sockets.

    Detach the display assembly

    Lift the display assembly completely clear of the rear enclosure and set it aside in a clean area.

    Unscrew the lower speaker housing

    Remove the screws holding the loudspeaker assembly using Y000 tri-point and Phillips #000 screwdrivers.

    Remove the loudspeaker

    Gently lift the loudspeaker module out of the lower chassis using a plastic opening tool.

    Remove the Taptic Engine

    Unscrew the Taptic Engine fasteners, disconnect its flex cable, and lift the unit out of the device.

    Unscrew the microphone and port assembly

    Remove the Phillips screws holding the primary microphone brackets and Lightning connector assembly to the bottom case.

    Remove the old microphone flex assembly

    Insert a flat spudger underneath the microphone and Lightning flex cable to loosen the adhesive, then lift the assembly out.

    Install the new microphone flex assembly

    Align the replacement flex cable into the frame, press down the microphone module, and drive in the securing screws.

    Reinstall the Taptic Engine and loudspeaker

    Set the Taptic Engine and loudspeaker modules back into place, connect their cables, and tighten all securing screws.

    Connect screen and test microphone

    Temporarily connect the display cables and battery, turn on the phone to test voice recording, then power off and disconnect the battery.

    Apply adhesive and close device

    Apply new perimeter adhesive, reconnect all cables, secure the metal brackets, press the screen flat, and install the two pentalobe screws.
