Step-by-step
- 1
Disconnect all cables
5 minUnplug the AC power cord, HDMI cable, and all peripherals. Wait at least five minutes to allow high-voltage capacitors in the power supply to fully discharge.

Remove top left cover panel
2 minGently lift the outer corner of the top left panel up and slide it off toward the base of the console.

Remove top right cover panel
2 minPull the top right panel away from the chassis to release the retaining clips and remove it.

Detach bottom right cover panel
2 minGently lift the bottom right panel away from the console frame to expose the disc drive bay.

Remove the disc drive module
2 minGently lift the optical disc drive straight up to unseat it from its motherboard connector.

Unsnap the fan intake guard
2 minUse a spudger or your fingers to unclip the plastic fan intake cover along the top edge.

Unscrew the fan assembly
3 minUse a TR8 Torx Security screwdriver to remove the four long screws securing the fan bracket.

Disconnect the fan cable
2 minUse precision tweezers to lift the fan connector straight up off the motherboard header.

Lift out the cooling fan
1 minPull the fan straight out of its housing and set it aside on an anti-static surface.

Unscrew the metal heat shield
4 minRemove the TR8 Torx Security screws securing the main upper metal shield to the console frame.

Lift off the metal shield
2 minGently pull the upper metal heat shield straight up to remove it from the console.

Disconnect the power supply cable
2 minUse a spudger to carefully unplug the power supply wiring harness from the motherboard.

Unscrew the power supply unit
2 minRemove the two TR8 Torx Security screws holding the power supply assembly to the inner frame.

Extract the power supply unit
3 minGently pull the power supply unit straight up out of the main housing to disengage its prongs.

Insert the new power supply
3 minAlign the replacement power supply with the chassis cavity and press it firmly into position.

Secure the new power supply
2 minReinstall and tighten the two TR8 Torx Security screws to lock the power supply in place.
