Step-by-step

Disconnect all external cables
1 minUnplug the AC power cord, HDMI cable, and all USB devices from the PS5 Pro. Ensure the console has been off for at least 10 minutes.

Remove the side cover plates
2 minGrasp the top corner of the panel, pull slightly away from the console, and slide it down toward the base to release the clips.

Unscrew the fan intake panel
3 minUse a TR8 Security Torx screwdriver to remove the four screws holding the fan guard and intake panel in place.

Disconnect the fan cable

2 minCarefully lift the metal shielding plate straight up to expose the motherboard underneath.

Disconnect the power supply cable
3 minSqueeze the locking tab on the main power harness and disconnect it from the motherboard socket.

Remove the motherboard assembly
4 minLift the motherboard carefully out of the lower plastic chassis, taking care not to snag remaining ribbon cables.

Inspect for corrosion and liquid residue
5 minExamine both sides of the motherboard under direct light, looking for green or white mineral corrosion and lingering liquid.

Clean the motherboard with isopropyl alcohol
10 minDip a soft ESD brush into 99% isopropyl alcohol and gently scrub all corroded areas and liquid residue on the board.

Dry the motherboard with compressed air
3 minUse short bursts of compressed air to displace remaining alcohol and debris from under small surface-mount chips.

Clean the lower chassis and components
5 minWipe down the plastic chassis, fan housing, and power supply exterior using a lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

Reinstall the motherboard
4 minAlign the dry motherboard back into the lower plastic housing, pressing it firmly into place onto the standoffs.

Secure the main EMI shield
5 minLower the metal shield plate over the board and reinstall all perimeter TR8 Security Torx screws.

Reinstall the cooling fan
4 minPlace the cooling fan back into its cavity, reconnect its cable to the motherboard, and fasten the fan guard screws.

Reattach the outer cover plates
2 minAlign the hooks on the cover plates with the console slots and slide them upward until they snap firmly into place.
