   Power down the console

   Unplug the power cord, HDMI cable, and all accessories from the PS5 Pro. Wait two minutes to ensure all internal capacitors are completely discharged.

   Position the console

   Lay the console upside down on a clean workspace mat with the power button facing away from you. Ensure the PS logo is facing down.

   Attach anti-static strap

   Wear an anti-static wrist strap and clip the ground lead to a grounded metal surface. This prevents static discharge from damaging internal circuits.

   Unlatch the bottom panel

   Grasp the top rear corner of the bottom panel with your fingers. Gently pull the corner up and away from the console body to disengage the retaining pins.

   Slide off the outer cover

   Slide the bottom cover towards the base of the console while lifting slightly. Set the cover panel aside in a safe spot.

   Locate the expansion slot

   Identify the long rectangular metal expansion slot cover located near the fan assembly. Inspect the area for loose debris or dust.

   Unscrew the slot cover

   Remove the single screw securing the expansion slot cover using a Phillips #1 screwdriver. Keep the screw nearby for reassembly.

   Remove the metal cover

   Lift the metal expansion slot cover straight up off the console body. Set the cover aside.

   Remove the drive spacer screw

   Remove the Phillips #1 screw and spacer from the notch at the end of the expansion bay. Save both pieces.

    Position the metal spacer

    Place the metal spacer into the notch corresponding to your SSD size, typically marked notch 80. Ensure the spacer sits completely flat.

    Align the M.2 SSD

    Hold your M.2 NVMe SSD by the edges and align its notch with the key inside the expansion slot. Angle the drive upward at roughly 30 degrees.

    Insert the SSD

    Firmly push the SSD into the expansion slot until the connector pins are completely concealed. Do not force the drive at an awkward angle.

    Lower the drive onto the spacer

    Gently press the rear edge of the M.2 SSD down until its semi-circular cutout rests directly on top of the metal spacer.

    Secure the SSD

    Insert the small screw into the spacer through the SSD cutout. Tighten the screw with a Phillips #1 screwdriver until snug.

    Replace the expansion cover

    Lower the metal expansion slot cover back over the drive bay. Ensure the screw hole aligns with the post on the chassis.

    Fasten the expansion cover

    Reinstall the expansion cover screw using a Phillips #1 screwdriver. Tighten until secured flush against the casing.

    Align the outer panel

    Position the outer cover slightly offset from the console edges, aligning its inner hooks with the matching slots on the body.

    Snap the cover in place

    Slide the panel toward the top of the console while pressing down gently until you hear a firm click locking it into position.
