Remove rear sticker seals
2 minPeel back or puncture the warranty sticker seals located on the back panel of the PS4 console.

Unscrew rear housing screws
3 minUse a TR9 Torx Security screwdriver to remove the screws securing the rear outer casing.

Slide off glossy cover
1 minPress down on the glossy hard drive panel and slide it outward to detach it from the top chassis.

Extract hard drive assembly
2 minRemove the single Phillips screw securing the hard drive bracket and pull the drive straight out.

Pry off lower plastic case
3 minGently lift the back edges of the lower plastic case panel to disengage the retention clips.

Unbolt power supply unit
4 minRemove the five screws securing the power supply unit using TR9 Torx and Phillips screwdrivers.

Disconnect power supply cable
3 minLift the power supply unit upward and disconnect the small electrical cable from the motherboard.

Disconnect Blu-ray drive ribbons
3 minPry up the locking tabs on the motherboard and pull out the ribbon cables connecting the optical drive.

Remove upper metal shield screws
5 minUnscrew all perimeter Phillips screws securing the top metal electromagnetic plate.

Lift off upper metal plate
2 minCarefully lift the top metal shielding off the console frame and place it aside.

Remove heatsink clamp
3 minUnscrew the two spring-loaded screws securing the metal heatsink retention plate.

Lift motherboard from housing
4 minDisconnect the fan connector cable from the motherboard and lift the motherboard out of the chassis.

Unscrew original fan assembly
3 minRemove the mounting screws securing the old cooling fan to the inner metal frame.

Install replacement fan
3 minSet the new cooling fan into the mounting frame and tighten the screws to lock it into place.
