Disconnect All Cable Connections

Remove Left Side Caddy Screws

Remove Right Side Caddy Screws
2 minRemove the remaining two Phillips #1 screws from the right side of the caddy. Keep these screws separate from the main console retention screw.

Lift Out the Old Hard Drive
1 minCarefully lift the original 2.5-inch hard drive out of the metal tray. Handle the drive by its edges to avoid touching the exposed circuit board.

Orient the New Drive in Caddy
2 minInsert your replacement 2.5-inch SATA HDD or SSD into the caddy with the SATA connectors pointing toward the open end of the tray. Align the side mounting holes.

Secure Drive with Side Screws
3 minThread and tighten all four side screws through the rubber grommets into the new drive. Ensure the drive sits square and level without over-tightening.

Insert Caddy into Console
2 minSlide the reassembled HDD caddy back into the drive bay until it seats firmly into the internal SATA connector.

Fasten the Retention Screw
1 minReinstall the PlayStation-icon screw through the caddy tab into the console chassis using your Phillips #1 screwdriver.
