Safety
- Disconnect all power sources and the battery immediately to prevent short-circuiting.
- Work in a well-ventilated area when using high-concentration isopropyl alcohol.
- Wear eye protection when using compressed air to avoid blowing liquid into eyes.

Step-by-step

Power off the controller
1 minDisconnect the controller from any USB charging cables and power it off completely.

Unscrew the handle grip base
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the two 6.0 mm screws located at the bottom of each handle grip.

Remove the handle grips
1 minSlide both plastic handle grips downward off the body of the controller.

Unscrew the rear cover
3 minRemove the four 9.5 mm Phillips #00 screws securing the rear housing to the main frame.

Detach the rear cover
2 minLift the rear cover straight up away from the internal assembly.

Disconnect the battery cable
2 minUse a spudger to gently lever the battery plug straight up out of its socket on the board.

Remove the battery pack
1 minLift the rechargeable battery out of its molded housing recess.
- 8
Unscrew the battery midframe
3 minRemove the five 6.0 mm Phillips #00 screws holding the battery frame to the motherboard.

Remove the battery frame
2 minLift the black battery housing frame away from the controller assembly.

Disconnect internal ribbon cables
3 minUse tweezers to flip up the ZIF locking tabs and slide out the ribbon cables attached to the board.

Unscrew the mainboard
3 minRemove the four Phillips #00 screws mounting the main circuit board to the front casing.

Lift out the mainboard
2 minCarefully remove the motherboard from the front shell, guiding the thumbstick modules clear of their cutouts.

Clean corrosion with isopropyl alcohol
10 minDip a soft bristle brush in 99% isopropyl alcohol and scrub away liquid residue and corrosion from the circuit board.

Blow dry with compressed air
5 minUse short bursts of compressed air to flush remaining liquid from underneath IC chips and button contacts.

Reassemble and test the controller
10 minReinstall all components in reverse order, insert the battery, and power on the controller to test all button inputs.
