Remove Rear Case Tri-Point Screws
3 minUse a Tri-Point Y00 screwdriver to remove the four corner screws from the rear outer shell.

Remove Edge and Card Slot Screws
3 minRemove the two Phillips #00 screws on the bottom edge, one on the top edge, and one inside the microSD card slot.

Pry Off Rear Outer Shell
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the seam along the housing edge and gently unclasp the rear shell.

Remove Metal Shielding Screws
3 minUnscrew the four Phillips #00 screws securing the aluminum heat shield plate to the inner chassis.

Lift Out Metal Shield Plate
2 minCarefully lift the metal shield off the chassis without smearing the thermal paste on the underside.

Disconnect Battery Connector
2 minSlide the flat edge of a spudger under the battery cable plug and lift straight up to disconnect power.

4 minUnscrew the single Phillips screw, open the ZIF connector latch, and remove the card reader board.

3 minGently tilt the top edge of the motherboard up and remove it entirely from the lower shell.

Apply Kapton Shielding Tape
4 minCover surrounding motherboard components near the port with heat-resistant Kapton tape to prevent accidental desoldering.

Apply Flux to Port Pins
2 minDispense liquid rosin flux across the surface-mount pins and structural anchor points of the damaged port.

Desolder Damaged Port
5 minHeat the port evenly using a hot air rework station set to 380°C until the solder melts, then lift the port clear.

Clean Motherboard Solder Pads
5 minUse a fine soldering iron tip and desoldering wick dipped in flux to remove excess old solder from the pads.

Solder New Port to Board
10 minAlign the replacement port, tack down the outer support legs, and flow solder onto each individual data and power pin.
