Safety
- Disconnect the battery before touching internal components to prevent short circuits.
- Wear an anti-static wrist strap during internal handling to prevent electrostatic discharge.

Step-by-step

Power Down and Remove MicroSD
2 minPress and hold the power button to shut down the Switch 2 completely. Eject the MicroSD card from the bottom card slot.

Remove Outer Tri-Point Screws
3 minUse a Y00 tri-point screwdriver to remove the four outer screws on the back cover.

Remove Frame Screws
3 minUnscrew the top, bottom, and kickstand recess screws using a Phillips #00 bit.

Pry Off Rear Backplate
2 minInsert a plastic spudger between the seam and gently lift off the outer rear cover.

Unscrew Metal Heat Shield
3 minRemove the Phillips screws securing the aluminum thermal shield to the chassis.

Lift Off Heat Shield
2 minCarefully lift the heat shield straight up to avoid smearing the underlying thermal paste.

Disconnect Battery Connector
2 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the battery cable straight up out of its motherboard socket.

Unscrew Storage Module Holder
2 minLocate the internal storage board and remove its single Phillips retaining screw.

Disconnect Drive Board Ribbon
2 minUse a spudger to flip up the ZIF lock lever and gently pull out the storage ribbon cable.

Remove Damaged Drive Module
1 minGently lift the original storage module up and out of the console housing.

Insert New Storage Module
2 minAlign the replacement storage board into position and slide the ribbon cable into the ZIF socket.

Secure Storage Module
2 minClose the ZIF latch and reinstall the single Phillips screw to anchor the module.

Reconnect Battery Cable
2 minAlign the battery connector with its socket and press firmly down until it clicks into place.

Reinstall Heat Shield and Back Cover
4 minPlace the metal shield back over the board and secure all remaining external chassis screws.
