Safety
- Ensure the battery and charger are completely disconnected before using a soldering iron on the motherboard.
- Wear eye protection when desoldering components and handling small springs under tension.
- Work in a well-ventilated space or use a fume extractor when melting solder and flux.

Step-by-step

Eject Stylus and Expansion Cover
1 minPull the stylus out from its slot on the right side of the DS Lite. Remove the GBA slot dust cover from the bottom edge.

Remove Battery Door Screw
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to loosen the single captive screw securing the battery compartment door.

Remove Battery Pack
1 minPry up the battery from the slot using a plastic spudger or fingernail and set it aside.

Remove Outer Tri-Wing Screws
3 minUse a Tri-wing Y0 screwdriver to remove the four outer housing screws from the back casing.

Remove Rear Phillips Screws
2 minRemove the two Phillips #00 screws located inside the battery compartment and near the power port.

Pry Off Lower Housing
3 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the seam around the outer edge and carefully pop the rear shell off.

Remove Shoulder Buttons
2 minLift the L and R shoulder button triggers along with their tiny metal hinge pins and springs.

Unscrew Motherboard Fasteners
2 minRemove the single Phillips #00 screw securing the main motherboard near the lower right corner.

Disconnect Wi-Fi Module
3 minUnplug the black antenna cable from the Wi-Fi module board and unclip the module from its mainboard socket.

Unlatch Lower Screen Ribbon
3 minFlip up the black locking lever on the lower touchscreen ZIF connector using tweezers, then slide the ribbon cable out.

Lift Out Motherboard
3 minGently pivot the motherboard upward from the bottom edge to reveal the power switch, charging jack, and F1/F2 fuses.

Test F1 and F2 Fuses
5 minSet a multimeter to continuity mode and touch probes to both sides of the SMD F1 and F2 fuses near the power connector to check for blown components.

Desolder Faulty Power Component
8 minApply flux to the anchor pins of the faulty power switch or blown fuse, then heat the solder joints using a soldering iron and desoldering braid to remove it.

Solder New Power Component
8 minPosition the replacement power switch or fuse onto the board pads and solder each joint securely with lead-free solder.

Reconnect LCD Ribbon Cable
4 minSet the motherboard back into the front shell, insert the lower LCD ribbon cable into its connector, and lock the latch.

Reinstall Wi-Fi Module
3 minPress the Wi-Fi board firmly back into its socket and reconnect the black antenna wire coaxial snap.

Reassemble Lower Housing
5 minReposition the shoulder buttons and springs into their slots, align the rear shell, and tighten all Tri-wing and Phillips screws.

Reinstall Battery and Test
2 minInsert the battery back into its compartment, secure the cover screw, slide the power switch, and check for a green power LED.
