Step-by-step

Peel back the rear stickers
2 minUse tweezers or a spudger to peel off the two tamper-evident stickers on the rear IO panel of the console.

Remove the rear security screws
2 minUse a T8 Torx Security screwdriver to remove the two screws hidden beneath the rear stickers.

Remove the lower case panel
2 minSlide the bottom outer shell panel toward the back edge of the console and lift it away.

Remove the green housing screws
3 minExtract the seven green T8 Torx Security screws securing the inner plastic chassis.

Slide off the outer casing
2 minCarefully slide the main white outer enclosure off the internal chassis assembly.

Extract the metal chassis screws
4 minUse a T10 Torx screwdriver to remove the 11 long chassis screws labeled with metal arrows.

Lift off the top metal shield
2 minGrasp the edges of the top metal shield plate and lift it straight off the internal chassis.

Disconnect the fan power cable
2 minGently pull the fan connector straight up out of its socket on the motherboard using tweezers or fingers.

Remove the old cooling fan
2 minLift the cooling fan assembly straight up out of the plastic housing recess.

Position the replacement fan
2 minLower the new fan into the housing, orienting the cable toward the motherboard socket.

Plug in the fan connector
2 minAlign the fan power plug and press it firmly into the motherboard header until seated.

Replace the top metal shield
2 minAlign the top metal shield plate with the screw standoffs and lower it onto the chassis.

Fasten the chassis screws
4 minReinstall and tighten the 11 T10 Torx screws through the metal shield.

Reinstall the outer casing
3 minSlide the internal chassis assembly back into the white main outer enclosure until aligned.

Secure the green housing screws
3 minThread and tighten the seven green T8 Torx Security screws back into the plastic housing.

Reattach the lower case panel
2 minPlace the lower panel on the console base and slide it forward until the locking tabs snap into place.

Reinstall the rear security screws
2 minDrive the two T8 Torx Security screws back into the rear panel to complete the reassembly.
