Step-by-step

Disconnect All External Cables
2 minUnplug the power supply cable, HDMI cable, and any attached USB peripherals from the back of the Xbox One.

Pry Off Left Side Vent
3 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the plastic seam near the left side vent and lever it off the console body.

Release Enclosure Plastic Latch
2 minSlide the small plastic locking clip located inside the side vent slot to disengage the upper casing catch.

Unclip Top Plastic Housing
4 minWork a plastic spudger along the perimeter rear seam to detach the upper casing clips from the lower housing.

Disconnect Power Button Ribbon Cable
3 minSlightly lift the top plastic cover and gently detach the front panel ribbon cable from the RF board connector.

Remove Wi-Fi Module Screws
2 minUse a Torx T8 screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the front Wi-Fi board to the metal shield.

Detach Wi-Fi Module
2 minPull the Wi-Fi module straight up to disconnect it from the motherboard connector.

Remove Upper EMI Shield Screws
5 minUse a Torx T10 screwdriver to extract the long screws securing the top metal EMI shield to the chassis.

Lift Metal EMI Shield
2 minRemove the top metal shield straight upwards to expose the cooling fan and heatsink assembly.

Disconnect Fan Cable Header
2 minUse tweezers or your fingers to carefully lift the 4-pin fan cable plug off the motherboard header.

Unclip Cooling Fan
3 minPress the plastic retaining tabs on the fan housing to release it from the heatsink frame.

Remove Old Fan
1 minLift the faulty cooling fan straight out of the metal console cage.

Position Replacement Fan
2 minAlign the replacement fan over the heatsink shroud and push down until the plastic side clips snap into place.

Plug In Fan Power Cable
2 minConnect the 4-pin fan cable back into its corresponding header on the motherboard.
